Job Overview
The Manufacturing Operations Manager will be responsible for organizing and overseeing production and fabrication of both Petrarch and Downer. You will be responsible for ensuring the smooth and efficient running of the production processes and compliance with health, safety and environmental issues (ISO14001), productivity and maximizing the efficiency of both materials and labour. You will also work closely with the Quality Control Manager with regards to ensuring that finished goods meet all product quality requirements (ISO9001). The goal is to ensure an efficient and productive manufacturing process that meets customer requirements whilst minimizing costs.
Main Responsibilities and Duties
Prepares and maintains production and fabrication plans that ensure maximum efficiency and that meet agreed deadlines.
Ensures that all production targets and deadlines are clearly and effectively communicated to the Factory Supervisors.
Manages the efforts of the Factory Supervisors.
Monitors production daily to ensure that efficiency, productivity and quality are all maintained to the correct levels at all times.
Supervises and evaluates the performance of production personnel.
Determines the correct level of resources – labour and raw materials.
Controls raw materials stock levels to ensure that they are within agreed budgets.
Liaises with the Factory Administrator to ensure that raw material and consumable orders are placed in good time.
Liaises with the Engineering Team to ensure that preventative maintenance is carried out as required and reactive maintenance is carried out at the earliest opportunity.
Addresses and resolves production and fabrication problems as they arise.
Working with the Factory Supervisors and the Engineering Team, provides suggestions for new equipment and modifications to existing to further improve output and efficiency.
Provides regular reports on agreed Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to the Joint Managing Directors.
Makes recommendations about ways to improve employee efficiency and reduce costs.
Working with the Factory Supervisors, recruits, hires and plans training for new factory staff.
Implements recommended and agreed manufacturing cost reduction strategies.
Liaises with the Quality Control Supervisor to ensure that adherence to quality control procedures and high levels of finished product quality are maintained at all times.
Provides support to the Quality Control Supervisor with regards to the investigation of NCRs and the implementation of subsequent process improvements.
Develops excellent cooperation and communication with the internal sales and administration teams.
Ensures that all work areas are kept clean and tidy at all times.
Ensures that all Health, Safety & Environmental rules are complied with at all times.
Carries out any other reasonable task as directed by the Directors.
Qualifications/Skills
Excellent understanding of Health, Safety & Environmental rules.
Excellent understanding of company policies and procedures with regards to Quality Control.
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Excellent knowledge of production management.
Ability to solve problems, either working as a team or individually.
