An exemplar in model living, brought to life with an injection of Petrarch reconstituted stone facade

Working in collaboration with Vistry Partnerships, architects Cartwright Pickard have conceived and delivered these striking buildings which form part of the 975-home Brunel Street Works masterplan.

‘The development aims to create an exemplar new neighbourhood next to Canning Town station in East London.’

Part of a landmark project to re-energise this Silvertown Way, Brunel Works features
335 new studio, one, two and three-bedroom apartments in two 25-storey towers, connected by a four-storey podium. Additionally as a mixed-use scheme, a contemporary hotel forms part of this modern mix.

In the words of the architect

‘Our design approach prioritised the standardisation of details and apartment types to achieve an efficient, cost-effective outcome. Just 12 different apartment types are stacked vertically to maximise the ease of construction and efficiency of the services. Repetition of key details helped to improve both the speed and quality of the work on site. A limited material palette of brick, stone and aluminium was selected, chosen to be both timeless and durable. The façade is made up of a panellised brick system which was manufactured offsite and craned into place.’

Brunel Works is a shining example of how our reconstituted stone rainscreen facade can work as a complement or modern contrast to traditional facade materials. The highly durable features of Petrarch means it’s the ideal choice for high footfall areas such as this mixed-use residential and commercial scheme.

‘Located moments from Canning Town station with exceptional public transport links into London, the scheme is designed to be car-free, with on site cycle storage provision for residents instead of car parking spaces. Rooftop photovoltaic panels and connection to the new Brunel Street Works district energy centre provide low-carbon electricity and heating to the scheme.’
