Petrarch Panels By The Waterside
Petrarch is proud to showcase our latest Netherlands Project: The William – Project Aan Het Water, Amsterdam
Highly durable, Petrarch reconsituted stone rainscreen is the ideal facade solution for exposed evnironments such as this.
Overamstel is in the midst of a transformation; from a fading industrial quarter into a vibrant and inspirational place to live and work.
Highly durable, Petrarch reconstituted stone rainscreen is the ideal facade solution for exposed environments such as this.
“The William – Project Aan Het Water” plays a pivotal role in this contemporary regeneration, its architecture given even more resonance, thanks to its breathtaking waterside location.
A harmonious blend of facade materials was chosen by the architect and client, including our Petrarch reconstituted stone panels, which have been used extensively – demonstrating the versatility of Petrarch as a contemporary facade solution. Tonal variation and texture bring added depth and refinement, complementing the scheme’s honest architectural language.
Given its highly durable, and intrinsic resistance, Petrarch reconstituted stone panels are ideal for schemes such as this – where robustness and resistance to salt, moisture and weathering are key. Petarch combines long-term durability with minimal maintenance which is a real advantage in demanding environments. It is also an excellent choice for low level applications and high footfall schemes, thanks to its impact resistance.
The overall effect is breathtaking.

Reconstituted Stone Façades: Serenity & Smart Design blend to create this striking The Intelligent Choice for Waterside Construction
Enduring performance, natural beauty, and in-built resilience. What makes reconstituted stone the ideal choice for modern facade schemes.
Waterside settings bring undeniable architectural appeal, dynamic light, open horizons, and a strong connection to nature. Yet these same environments present some of the most challenging conditions a façade will face. High humidity, salt exposure, and continuous weathering demand a facade material that can stand the test of time.
That’s where reconstituted stone façades come into their own. Carefully developed to deliver the character of natural stone with the reliability of modern performance, they offer a material solution ideally suited to coastal and riverside construction worldwide.
Designed to Endure
Reconstituted stone is manufactured through a precise combination of predominantly crushed marble and stone, combined with reinforcing elements. This controlled process results in a dense, durable material with exceptional resistance to frost, moisture ingress, and salt crystallisation.
Unlike many natural stones, its intrinsic strength and low porosity make it less susceptible to erosion and staining, even in the harshest marine environments. For projects where long-term façade stability is essential, this translates into reduced maintenance, consistent visual integrity, and confidence in the building’s lasting performance.
Architectural Freedom Without Compromise
A waterside context often calls for materials that complement both the landscape and the built form. Reconstituted stone façades provide the aesthetic versatility architects seek; from refined, honed finishes to the textured warmth of weathered stone.
Because each panel is manufactured here in the UK to an exacting specification – colour, tone, and texture can be precisely controlled to achieve the intended visual effect. Whether you’re matching an existing facade or designing a contemporary coastal façade, reconstituted stone offers a consistent, design-led finish that retains its beauty year after year. And to ensure this, Petrarch panels also come with a 50 year guarantee when combined with our Downer Framing aluminium envelope framing system.
Its adaptability also extends to panel formats and fixing systems, enabling seamless integration with rainscreen and ventilated façade design, an important consideration for projects exposed to persistent moisture and wind loads.
Proven in the UK’s Toughest Environments
Across the UK, from harbour developments to riverside civic buildings, reconstituted stone façades have demonstrated their capability in high-exposure locations. These installations showcase how reconstituted stone facades can balance aesthetic precision with environmental performance, maintaining colour stability and structural integrity despite continuous exposure to the elements.
The result is architecture that feels rooted, enduring, and perfectly at home in its setting, whether it’s facing the Atlantic or lining the Thames.

A Sustainable, Future-Proof Solution
Manufactured here in the UK, reconstituted stone supports responsible construction through local sourcing wherever possible, reduced transport impact, and efficient production processes; featuring a high percentage of upcycled natural material, aligning with current sustainability frameworks such as BREEAM, LEED, and the RIBA 2030 Climate Challenge.
By specifying reconstituted stone, project teams gain not only performance assurance but also a material that supports broader carbon reduction and longevity goals.
Built for the Elements. Designed for Life.
For architects, specifiers, and contractors seeking a façade material that unites strength, aesthetic quality, and durability, reconstituted stone represents a balanced and intelligent choice for the UK’s waterside architecture.
Timeless in appearance, resilient by design, it’s a façade solution that embodies both technical integrity and enduring beauty.
